Why We Show Our Rates (And Most Agencies Do Not)

Most marketing and IT agencies hide their pricing behind a contact form. Here is why BoostBC publishes Build and Boost rates up front, what that means for Okanagan business owners, and how to tell if a quote is fair.

Why We Show Our Rates (And Most Agencies Do Not)

Ask ten marketing or IT agencies what they charge and nine of them will send you a contact form. You fill it in, you sit through a discovery call, and somewhere around week two a proposal lands with a number you have no way to sanity check.

We publish our Build and Boost rates on the pricing section of our services page instead. Here is why, and what it should mean for you as a business owner in Kelowna or anywhere else in BC.

Hidden pricing is a sales tactic, not a service

There is a reason rates stay off the website. When nobody knows the number, the number can move. It moves based on how big your logo looks, how urgent your problem sounds, and how many other quotes you admit to having. That is not custom pricing. That is guessing what you will tolerate.

Published rates take that game off the table. If the work is the same, the price is the same, whether you run a two person trades company in Rutland or a clinic with fifteen staff.

What transparent pricing actually gives you

  • You can budget before you talk to anyone. No booking a call just to learn you cannot afford it.
  • You can compare like for like. Our numbers sit beside anyone else's, which is exactly the point.
  • You know what is included. No management fee stacked on top of the work you already paid for.
  • The conversation stays about the work. Fit check calls become about whether we can help, not about negotiating.

Build versus Boost, in plain terms

Build is a one off project. A website, an app, a brand, a system that needs to exist before anything else works. It has a start, a finish, and a price you agree to before we begin.

Boost is an ongoing monthly partnership. Content, campaigns, support, and steady improvement once the foundation is there. It is month to month work with clear scope, not a twelve month lock in that you spend eleven months regretting.

Most businesses start with a Build, then decide on their own whether a Boost makes sense. Plenty stop after the Build, and that is a fine outcome.

How to tell if a quote is fair

Whether you hire us or not, these questions sort honest quotes from padded ones:

  1. What is the hourly or project rate, in writing? A quote with no unit of measurement cannot be checked.
  2. Who owns the work when we are done? Your domain, your hosting, your ad accounts, your social logins, your code. If the answer is the agency, walk.
  3. What happens if we stop? A fair arrangement lets you leave with everything you paid for.
  4. What is the management fee for? If it cannot be explained in one sentence, it is margin.
  5. Who actually does the work? Ask if it is the person in front of you or a subcontractor three time zones away.

Why local matters here

When your point of sale goes down on a Saturday in July, or your leads dry up heading into shoulder season, you do not need an account manager and a ticket queue. You need someone who understands what that week costs you and can be reachable. We are in Kelowna. We know the Okanagan calendar, the tourism swings, and the trades busy season, because we live in them too.

The fine print, which is short

All rates are in Canadian dollars plus GST. Project work is quoted up front. Monthly work is month to month. Everything we build belongs to you.

Not sure which path fits

Book a free 10 to 15 minute fit check. We will look at what you have, tell you honestly whether we are the right help, and point you somewhere better if we are not. No pitch deck, no pressure.
