Ask a room of career changers about sales and half of them wince. Ask about customer support and the other half do. Then look at who actually gets promoted fastest in most Okanagan companies. Yeah.
This page from a local career research guide exists to close that gap between reputation and reality.

The situation
The coach I was working with noticed a pattern: clients with strong people skills and no trade or degree were writing off the two paths most likely to hire them tomorrow. They needed to see the ladder, not just the bottom rung.
What I built
A pathway page that treats sales and support with the same seriousness as any other career. It shows:
- The ladder. Entry role, then the two or three typical next steps, with rough timelines. Support to team lead to operations is a real Kelowna story and it is on the page.
- Local wage bands per rung. Including where commission or bonus typically kicks in, so nobody is surprised.
- Which industries here are hiring. Tech, tourism, real estate, wineries, each with a different flavour of the same role.
- Transferable skills. A short list that lets a career changer recognize themselves.
The design keeps the same card structure as the rest of the guide so readers can compare a support path directly against a trade or a technical path a few pages earlier. Consistency is what makes comparison possible.
Why it works
The coach said this page changed more minds than any other in the guide. Seeing the progression laid out flat, with real local numbers, turned "I guess I could do sales for now" into "oh, this is a career." Several clients pursued roles they had dismissed a week earlier.
The takeaway for your business
If part of what you offer is underrated, do not argue about it. Show the ladder. A clear picture of progression does more persuading than any adjective.
