Google "careers in Kelowna" and you will get job boards, a few government PDFs from 2019, and a lot of blog posts written by people who have never been here. That is what a local career coach was working with when she asked for help.

The situation
Her clients kept asking the same question in different words: "What can I actually do here?" Kelowna is not Vancouver. The industries are different, the wages are different, the training options are different. National statistics were useless and she was spending hours per client rebuilding the same research.
What I built
A research guide, and this is its front page: a comparison table of major local career pathways. For each one, the same columns:
- Typical entry route and how long it takes
- Realistic Okanagan wage range, not the national average
- Local demand signal, based on current postings and regional growth
- Where the training happens, and whether you can do it without leaving town
The design matters as much as the data. Everything lines up. The eye can scan a row or a column without getting lost. A client in a stressful career pivot does not need a beautiful report. They need one they can read at a kitchen table at 11pm.
Why it works
The coach now hands this to clients before the first session. They arrive with questions instead of anxiety. She estimates it saves two to three hours of research per client, which at her rates is real money, and it makes her look like the local expert she is.
The takeaway for your business
If your customers keep asking the same question, stop answering it one at a time. Research it once, design it properly, and hand it out. It positions you as the authority and gives you back your evenings.
