Coaching is a conversation, and conversations wander. That is fine over coffee. It is less fine when someone is paying you by the hour and wants to see progress.
A career coach in the Okanagan came to me with a simple frustration: sessions felt good in the moment, but clients could not remember what they had agreed to do, and neither could she.

The situation
She had notes in three places: a notebook, her phone, and a spreadsheet she rarely opened. Clients would show up and say, "What did we decide last time?" and the first ten minutes of every session were spent reconstructing the previous one.
What I built
One page. Printable or fillable on a tablet. It has four blocks:
- Where we left off. Two lines. Just enough to jog memory.
- Today's focus. One question the session has to answer.
- What came up. Room for the actual conversation, with prompts so the good stuff does not get lost.
- Commitments before next time. Three lines, each with a due date.
The visual design is calm on purpose. Soft grid, generous spacing, one accent colour. It has to look like a tool a client trusts, not a form the government sends you.
Why it works
The guide does two jobs at once. It structures the session for the coach, and it gives the client a physical artifact to take away. People finish tasks they can see. A commitment written on a page they hold is far stickier than one said out loud.
The coach told me sessions now start with "here is what I did" instead of "remind me what we talked about." That shift alone bought back ten minutes per call.
The takeaway for your business
If you deliver a service through conversations, whether coaching, consulting, or client check-ins, you need a page that captures them. Not a CRM. A page. Something a human will actually fill out while talking.
